About Job
Head R&D Vegetables Crops designs and drives research strategies to deliver market-relevant vegetable crop products in line with organizational goals. The role defines breeding direction, protocols, budgets, and resource allocation for short- and long-term plans while integrating modern tools like molecular breeding. It collaborates with national and global institutes for germplasm access and technology exchange. The position develops competitive product profiles, analyzes markets and competitors, and supports product launches through testing and field evaluations. It oversees breeding operations, monitors trials, optimizes budgets, and ensures effective CapEx and OpEx use. The role also manages team planning, talent acquisition, and capability building, coordinating with biotech, product development, QA/QC, supply chain, finance, and external scientific bodies.
Job Description
Key Responsibilites:

Develop and implement research strategies and long-term plans for vegetable crop improvement.

Establish departmental budgets and ensure balanced allocation between capital and operational expenditures.

Define research objectives, breeding goals, and scientific direction for crop programs.

Create standardized breeding and research protocols aligned with market requirements.

Monitor competitor products and develop insightful product market profiles.

Lead adoption of advanced breeding technologies, including molecular breeding and trait discovery.

Integrate the latest global breeding knowledge into all crop programs.

Strengthen operational capabilities to effectively execute research and breeding plans.

Design and implement robust breeding matrices to guide selection and advancement decisions.

Collaborate with national and international research institutes to access germplasm and scientific resources.

Track competitor strengths, product strategies, and market competitiveness to refine breeding direction.

Contribute products for government-coordinated testing and participate in scientific symposiums.

Identify risks and opportunities in modernization, automation, and emerging technologies.

Oversee daily breeding operations, field evaluations, crop tours, and product advancement activities.

Build and develop breeding teams through hiring, training, skill enhancement, and organizational design.
