The role demands proven expertise in total synthesis of complex natural products, development of innovative synthetic methodologies, and leadership of cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will head the medicinal chemistry and analytical research functions, spearhead oncology and immuno-oncology projects, and play a key role in strategic decision-making, external collaborations, and the advancement of NCE programs from concept to clinic.
Job Description
We are looking for an exceptional and experienced scientific professional to lead our small molecule drug discovery efforts, particularly in the areas of oncology and immuno-oncology. The individual will be responsible for directing a team of medicinal chemists and the analytical department, ensuring high scientific standards and timely project execution. The role requires a blend of deep scientific knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to strategically align research efforts with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead multiple early-to-mid stage drug discovery programs, focusing on oncology and immuno-oncology targets

Guide the design and synthesis of novel chemical entities (NCEs) using creative and efficient synthetic routes.

Leverage expertise in structural complexity and total synthesis of natural products to enrich the synthetic toolbox.

Integrate knowledge from drug design, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and disease biology to expedite progression of compounds to IND-enabling studies.

Lead the medicinal chemistry and analytical departments, ensuring close collaboration across discovery teams.

Utilize molecular modeling tools to inform structure-based design and compound optimization.

Track and assess competitive intelligence, ensuring the portfolio remains differentiated and cutting-edge.

Represent the company at scientific and corporate symposia, fostering strategic partnerships and enhancing scientific visibility.

Actively participate in evaluating new targets and contribute to leadership decisions on portfolio expansion.

Manage external collaborations and CROs to accelerate project timelines and access specialized capabilities.

Mentor and train junior scientists, and contribute to talent acquisition through campus and on-site hiring programs.
